Southern Lady [calligraphy]

I recently got a call from the editor at Southern Lady. A fabulous magazine packed full of all sorts of great stuff. They asked me to photograph a local artist for an article they were doing on Calligraphy. It was a fun stepping into someone else s world for a day and meeting Joyce Teta of The Calligraphy Centre. My mother always did Calligraphy as I grew up, I have her old set of pens. It really is an amazing art. One that I'd like to study if I could ever find more time!

They sent me a few tears from the things I photographed for them. Here they are;

love [sweet] love

Kristina suggested this beautiful home for the location of her and Eric's engagement session. An older home that has been in the family for 20+ years. Just as we were almost done, she suggested we go upstairs to see this nostalgic room of dried flowers. I was in heaven!!

Look forward to a beautiful May wedding!

baby [love]

Molly was one of my very first wedding clients, seven years ago [the film era]. Now here she is with her first child, 4 month old John Carter. All the way from Atlanta!

FUNNY! I always tell the moms to stay within arms reach in case they start to fall over.

Forsyth Pediatrics + SGP = a community project!

Forsyth Pediatrics has been apart of our lives since my son Jake was an infant, thirteen years now. I have amazing confidence and trust in our doctor, Dudley Bell.

You never really know how good your pediatrics office/doctors are until you really need them. A typical check up and vaccinations are one thing, but when you rush to their doors early in the morning, just before they open, with a 3 month old who you think is having trouble breathing and turning blue, you hope;

1. your not just crazy and over dramatic
2. they will act immediately and help you

That's just what they did. Every single staff member that morning was there for not only Brady, but me too. We sat there with oxygen and the comforts of the staff until the ambulance could get us to the hospital. It was 3 intense days followed by months of tests, breathing treatments, sleepless nights {watching him breathe}, and being in and out of the hospital. I am so grateful to say that today; now almost 3 years old, Brady is normal {well, as normal as a 3 year old can be}.

Besides that extreme emergency visit, a few other great things about Forsyth Pediatrics;
.when your child needs to be seen, they get you in.
.the nurses on call are wonderful. If you have medical concerns or questions they are there {can you tell I am a paranoid mom yet?}
.Dr. Bell explains things to me in a way I can understand and especially the kids! I'll never forget the time he explained to my son what was happening to his body. He used examples and metaphors he could understand.
.I NEVER, NEVER feel rushed, he'll sit there and talk about your child's health as long as you need to!
.And to top it all off...There is nothing cooler than a pediatric physicians that rolls into the room with Heely's on!!

All that a pediatrics should be!

It was because of my trust and experiences with Forsyth Pediatrics that gave me the security and idea to do this project. They do wonderful things in our community, as well as in Haiti. I strive to do the same as an individual and in my business.

There is now a display of my work hanging in the lobby at Forsyth Pediatrics. For every patient that books a session with me, an organization {chosen by doctors} will receive a portion of the proceeds from your print order.

If your a Forsyth Pediatric patient there is a little something there for you, ask one of the receptionist when you stop in again!

Amazing people can do amazing things together! That means you. me and Forsyth Pediatrics! We can all know that we are doing something wonderfully supportive for people in need... And you get awesome images of your family while doing it!

BTW...for all you moms out there wondering what was wrong with Brady... He had RSV and whopping cough.

home away from home

Immediately she was a friend and as soon as I walked through the doors it felt just like home. Judy {The Yoga Gallery} and friends have worked hard to create a wonderful haven for yoga enthusiasts. I get so excited to see my home town grow and offer these type of things! I stopped by today to say hello, meet Amy {owner of Let it Be Yoga Boutique} and check out the new studio. Absolutely beautiful!

I love that The Yoga Gallery offers something for everyone! Yoga, Tai Chi, Meditation. Classes for anyone and all; prenatal, children, over 50. I look forward to hanging out on my lunch breaks once in awhile and taking advantage of all they have to offer!

If your interested in yoga/meditation for children you should definitely check out the classes they offer for your doodle bugs. Another option for starters is something I use with my children; a book called Baby Buddha. My kids love these activities!

I hope you'll stop by and see Judy, Amy and the rest of the people who are involved in making this such a great community resource for our bodies and minds. Have a fresh baked item and sit and chat or take a class. It's nice to know there is kindness out there, waiting for you to walk through the door.

Art albums are becoming a huge thing with weddings! I have a few samples...feel free to stop by anytime, hang out, have some coffee, take a look and chat! Here is a recent design from a wedding I shot with a colleague in Boone, NC. A blend of both our works, but a great sample of layout and content. Smaller albums are also available with family sessions. A great way to involve all your images in a beautiful, high quality book and keepsake.
